Pedodontics

Pedodontics is the specialty of dentistry focusing on children.  It deals with the oral and dental health of infants, children and adolescents from birth to the completion of permanent dentition.  It targets to keep primary and permanent teeth of the children with age aging from 0 to 13 healthy and treat the problems caused in teeth by decays, traumas, heritage and similar factors.  The treatment is given under local anesthesia, general anesthesia or sedation depending on the individual condition of the patient.

Pedodontics

All filling, canal treatment and amputation procedures needed for primary teeth and young permanent teeth, manufacturing of space maintainers and children prostheses, protective and preventive orthodontic treatments, trauma treatments, fluoride veneers, fluoride gel and fissure sealant applications are the subjects of Pedodontics.  ;

Space Maintainers

Space maintainers are the appliances applied in place of one or more primary teeth lost prematurely.  Placing space maintainers in the gap created by a missing tooth can prevent other teeth from drifting into the empty space. Measurement of the child's mouth is taken and sent out to the laboratory for manufacturing of a space maintainer fit to teeth. This space maintainer is bonded to the teeth and checked by the dentist every sixth month until the permanent tooth starts to erupt.

Fluoride Application

The fluoride application which must be done in children by dentist ever four to six months is a quite simple procedure carried out under the control of a dentist.   Fluoride preparation in the form of gel or varnish is applied to dried teeth isolated from saliva after the teeth surface is cleared of food and plaque residues.
